I won the Automattic Design Awards

Woot!

Block Gallery, my Gutenberg block project for building beautiful galleries with WordPress 5.0, was announced as this year’s winner in the Best Solution category of the Automattic Design Awards.

I’m absolutely honored and completely ecstatic. Here are the full results for each of the three categories. Go check out the great work produced by all the finalists — it’s quite impressive.

My foray into Gutenberg

After attending WordCamp US 2017, I decided to dive headfirst into Gutenberg and explore the future of WordPress. Gutenberg challenged me to level-up in both design and development—especially Javascript—and look towards a new generation of possibilities within core WordPress. So for the better part of 2018, I’ve built blocks, such as Block Gallery and CoBlocks, to leverage the editor’s capabilities and empower users to create beautiful content. There is so much potential with the new editor and I’m just getting started. I’m looking forward to the next phases of Gutenberg and identifying more opportunities to empower folks with the new editor.

Thank you

A huge “thank you” is deserving to all the folks who spent countless hours, days, months, and even years, making Gutenberg a reality for millions of websites. We’d be stuck in the past without your efforts to push the WordPress collection in a bright, new direction. 👏👏

Thanks again — this is super cool.
