Over the past couple of years, I have watched the WordPress space evolve in so many ways – good and bad. With the fast-paced development nature of WordPress, it is a challenging endeavor to maintain 20+ free and commercial WordPress themes.
Meet my wife Jesse Tabor, the newest addition to the team at ThemeBeans. Well… that’s not entirely true. As those of you with spouses already know, Jesse has always played an integral part with me at ThemeBeans.
She’s a wonderful encourager. Someone I can bounce ideas off of. The one who keeps me grounded and listens when I ramble on about complex bugs and business plans.
Jesse’ role at ThemeBeans
By day, Jesse is a full-stack mother and phenomenal wife. In-between the kiddos’ naps, she’s plugging away at her MacBook as the WordPress Theme Maintenance Technician at ThemeBeans. Pretty official ‘eh?
Jesse will be working directly with me to ensure that each of our WordPress themes receive the necessary attention to stay up-to-date with the latest WordPress technologies and development techniques.
First up, she’s tackling the task of making our WordPress themes even more child theme friendly. By the end of this month, every one of our themes will take full advantage of the new get_theme_file_uri() and get_theme_path() functions, vastly improving how easy they are to modify.
I am also preparing a child theming guide with the aim of highlighting basic child theming and common use-case scenarios. Hopefully that’ll really showcase the awesome capabilities of child theming.
I take it seriously that folks trust our team to ensure their websites run without fault. Having a dedicated team member pursuing updates will enrich our WordPress themes and make them easier to use than ever.
I’m excited to see how this goes!
